5 things i’d tell you about your birth prep if i wasn’t scared of hurting your feelings

  1. You can’t JUST focus on the birth you want. You need to be prepared about the reality of the maternity system and how you’d cope with a range of types of birth. This isn’t scaremongering or negativity - it’s treating you like an adult.

  2. You’re not thinking enough about preparing for postpartum… build it into your planning now, or trust me, it’ll be a shock.

  3. You’re not practicing your relaxation tracks enough (sorry! :D)

  4. Most women will experience pain during labour - it’s knowing how to manage that pain that’s the game changer, not ignoring it.

  5. Reading a book and doing some breathing probably isn’t going to cut it. Support from a qualified professional makes such a difference.
